Run Smarter in 2022
As 2022 dawns, many of us will be digging out our running shoes, with great promise that this will be our year! Ill be publishing a blog next week on how to make sure those same shoes are not back on permanent leave by February the 1st, but for today here's a simple tip on making running easier and avoiding those niggling injuries.
There is still much debate about warming up before running, with most experts concluding dynamic stretches is the way forward. What they all agree on is that we shouldn't just open the front door and start sprinting down the road like Usain Bolt. The body needs time to adjust and we need to get that all important supply of blood flowing to our muscles.
So by simply walking at a reasonable pace for 7-15 mins before you set off like a rat up a drain pipe, you will have got the mind and body in the right state for your run. You will not only enjoy the experience more, but also reduce the chance of those annoying niggles!
